Every year, U. S. News and World Report comes out with a ranking of universities based on some fuzzy statistics, and every year the same tired discussion about whether the rankings are worth anything comes up yet again. Can we lay it to rest? They're worthless. For the sake of our kids, we should ignore them. Maybe USNWR will finally shut up if we do.

A study by Princeton (Look! Princeton! Prestigious Ivy League!) showed it doesn't matter which school you go to, except perhaps on the level of being surrounded by motivated people. The jobs and the pay are not substantially different. So let's stop feeding the high school pressure cooker that so stresses young people who have no business planning out their lives at such an early age by way of being accepted or not accepted to that school. It's a means to a job and a good life experience, not life or death itself.
