Our lab had the privilege of moving into the Frank Gehry-designed Stata Center, or building 32, a couple weeks ago. It isn't finished yet; most notably, the dining establishments are still under major construction. When all is done, a pub will be located two doors down from my office. That may be a bad thing in terms of foot traffic. But I think no matter what they end up doing, I love this building. If you went to MIT, let me show you - they finally did something right. One friend described it as a modern-day castle, another as a perfect place to satisfy wanderlust. This is what I want my house to be like - full of interesting little nooks, crannies, bridges, dramatic staircases, lots of space, lots of light, and the feeling as if there's always something new around the corner. |

Come by when you're in town! I think the building dedication is sometime in May (though not everything is going to be done until this summer, probably).
