I'll watch it again and enjoy it for what it was: lightsabers. Lots of lightsabers (sorry if that's a spoiler; skip the rest if you haven't seen it).

Nevertheless, it's all too clear that the man never really had a plan in mind from the beginning as he claims and has been lying about his capacity to do so since the day he scribbled 'Episode IV' onto the opening crawl of a re-released Star Wars. He's regressed in his imagination to the point where he blatantly subverts a movie about lightsabers to his political views.

He's just making it up as he goes along. Jar Jar Binks? Oops, no speaking lines in this film. No Gungans in any future films, save a revised Return of the Jedi ending. Tall blue emporer's aide de camp? Oops, not in any of the future films either. Qui-Gon Jinn? Oops, no mention of him at all after this movie. Senator Amidala? Only when Leia thinks she remembers her sad mother - which is impossible since there's no evidence that baby Leia even sees her mother. Anakin's mom? No mention. Maori accent in stormtroopers? They seem to have forgotten to clone that part in later years. Darth Maul completely loses his advantage of higher ground to an unarmed Obi-Wan, but Anakin fails to pull the same trick, while armed? One of these scenarios is absurd in comparison to the other; that they both exist in the same family of cinema is even worse.

The worst has got to be Jango Fett banging his head on a door in Episode II to explain the blooper in Episode IV when a stormtrooper runs his head into a door. If that's the only type of thing he can come up with, he should have asked somebody who could actually write and somebody who could actually direct to take over these films. Wasn't there some condemnation of pride, arrogance, and self-centeredness in these movies? Oops.

It kind of works if you just forget that it doesn't. I suppose that's what they mean by suspension of disbelief. I wish George would stop trying to make us believe.

I'll still go back for the lightsabers.

This might be ex...

This might be expanded universe stuff, but I don't think the storm troopers in later movies are clones. Something about clone instability caused them to ditch cloning at some point, don't remember what it was exactly.
