An approximately four and a half mile hike to the site of the old LA Zoo, a fun spot where you can wander old animal enclosures, shockingly small and fully replaced by the more modern zoo to the north within Griffith. The topography forms a natural stadium seating, though the acoustics are less amphitheater and more shout and project. The Independent Shakespeare Company's last weekend of Much Ado About Nothing gave another opportunity to hike much farther into the park than I normally would with the promise of what turned out to be a surprisingly uncongested ride back home.

It may be time to arrange a modern zoo visit so I can explore more of the foreign north half of the park.
