Track books and facilitate their exchange.

Miscellaneous Notes

Book information is derived from the Z39.50 gateway provided by the Library of Congress. Backup in case the Library of Congress fails is derived from the less extensive barnesandnoble.com.

Z39.50 is a protocol libraries use to share information about books. Pre-dating the glory days of XML (which are perhaps yet to come), Z39.50 provides data in a simple field : data format. Official documentation comes from the Library of Congress, with some help coming from the Online Computer Library Center. Mozilla has a team working on integration of the protocol with the browser.
