I have one way communication going from my server to my bot now (i.e., I could definitely have the bot IM you based on you registering a time for it to tell you something), now I need to see if I can extract information from it to do things like have a web-based check on whether someone is online or not. I'm sure this has all been done before, but it's fun.
Twisted provides some great asynchronous socket stuff (thanks 6.824), but the documentation and examples for version 1.0.1 are far too muddled. If a ClientFactory already exists for a Protocol and I just want a named instance of the Factory, how do I start it without relying on deprecated methods?
Anyways. I'll roll out something basic in the near future, though there will be some permissions to keep people from abusing the AIM/web interface.
