Ah-nold announced his candidacy today for governor of California. Media stars and politics mix poorly. Someone once compared American celebrities to high schoolers, where the popular kids get to do and say everything, and the dorky school newspaper reporters repeat it all for the rest of us unpopular folk to hear.

What kind of qualifications does the Last Action Hero have for being governor? I look forward to his statements on policy, if there are any. Maybe he'll get stuck doing Terminator impressions at every conference. And wouldn't that be a lovely reflection on our current political system. It is sad that he could win on his overwhelming recognizance, which is an unfortunate motivation behind why people vote the way they do.

As an addendum, Vivien remarked at work that Conan the Barbarian is claiming he can't be affected by special interests because he's already rich. How reassuring.
