The day after you snowboard for the first time, you may find the following list of normally simple, automatic actions hampered by your aching muscles, especially if you fell as much as I did.

  • Getting out of bed
  • Walking
  • Sitting down
  • Standing up
  • Holding onto a doorknob and pushing the door simultaneously
  • Pulling on a doorknob
  • Going up a set of stairs
  • Going down a set of stairs
  • Showering (I still managed to do it, thank you)
  • Clapping
  • Putting on a pair of shoes (bending down)
  • Anything involving raising your hand over your head, particularly if there's something in your hand

I realize a good workout may do some of these things to you, but I've yet to find an activity aside from snowboarding that does all of them.

I suppose there's a required element of masochism in learning this sport, unless you already know how to balance yourself using only your hips, in which case you suck. That would make me a masochist.
