I did some research on why my PNGs won't match background colors in Firefox and found some fun information on how the PNG spec includes folderol on gamma correction and why it should be considered folderol in The Sad State of PNG Gamma Correction. It's one of those nice ideas that nobody does correctly. There's a test suite that Firefox 1.0 does pass, so I presume my dumbed down version of Photoshop is to blame for not including gamma correction information. I'll have to add that junk out or go back to using GIF.

Apparently my experience is not unique (nice site design, by the way).
