An Indiana school sent home a substantial portion of its student body for clothing policy violations.

"I'd be supportive if half the school was sent home, because 99% will get the message our schools are for education," board president Rebecca Ward said, from the AP article.

The school board's faith in humanity is severely lacking if they think only 1% will understand punishment regarding clothing is about behavioral conditioning, not education. One might hope the two should be entirely separated, giving society the opportunity for parents, family, and community to really affect (but not control) the growing up process.

Children experimenting with self-expression through wardrobe when they're given no other options for what to do with the entire day for thirteen years? God forbid.
