Periodically the developers at Xanga decide it's time to change their login process, which screws with my own journal's cross-poster (this dual-purpose post is for testing and for complaining) and with Croissanga. There was a time where Xanga was in the top twenty-five of Alexa stats on most-visited pages on the web. It's currently at 91, and I expect it will continue to drop until those responsible for its management will wise up and decide to play better with the rest of the web. Re-using a pre-existing API would go a long way to remedying my perception that they don't really know that they're doing. With the advent of bigger giants playing the same game (MySpace, Facebook), there's nothing unique Xanga offers to newcomers except its pre-existing network, which is apparently composed mostly of Hong Kong residents.

I consider Xanga effectively dead at this point and expect it to be completely so within a few years. Once it drops below a certain threshold on Alexa, I'm going to stop supporting any cross-posting work. For those of you reading this on Xanga, if the blogging thing isn't already dead for you, now's a great time to jump ship.
