Some films outside the major studio productions for this summer.

This first get bonus points for its title: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead, which should win Best Title. Reviews first, though; the Shakespeare vampire comedy concept is fraught with pitfalls.

Micmacs from France and the makers of Amelie, with all of the same whimsy, this time with a family of packrats taking the fight to a corporate weapons manufacturer. It looks incredible.

Of the films I'll probably see in the theater, the last, Get Low. Robert Duvall, still making great material as the years progress, plays a recluse who holds a funeral service to have stories told of him and finally tell his own before he passes.

There are a few "cause documentaries" that I already generally agree with and will likely not watch. I suppose to get one made requires the promise of paying off its expenses, but still - break even and put it online if the argument is really going to get made in the public square. Countdown to Zero about reducing the global nuclear stockpile to nothing, and Waiting for Superman on the systemic flaws of American education.
