Yes. It wasn't until I arrived at MIT in 1996 that e-mail became a major part of my life. I lived 18 years without it. :)

My wild guess is that you're planning a cross country driving trip!
One of those red flags looks suspiciously like it's on Berkeley, California... :) When are you heading west?

You may have already done this, but if you look at cnn.com's election coverage you can break down votes across the US by county. That may give you some idea as to the voting patterns of counties that contain large cities. For example, Harris County (home to Houston, TX) apparently went to Bush by 55%. Not as "red" as other Texas counties, but may classify as "conservative." (Of course, as we all know, Bush is from Texas ;) so Houston might not be a good example.)
Depending on how you define "large city," my gut feeling is that you'd be hard pressed to find more than a few conservatively-voting large cities in the US. (If you find a few, let me know what they are and I'll move there! ;)

Ha, my first comment on Ryan's journal! :)
Passion is something I really believe in. We're all here on this earth with different talents. I believe passion is what should determine which talents we use. I've done a few activities in life so far, and I've always struggled with wondering which ones to continue. It was really hard thinking about giving up things at which I excelled and enjoyed. A few years ago I decided to go with those activities that I am truly passionate about, regardless of my talents, and I can honestly say I do not regret any decision I've made. That may have meant giving up some things that did mean a lot (music) and keeping other activities that others may not have liked (crew), but I am happier in the long term.
:)
(p.s. Ok, so maybe I am deep sometimes... ;)
